Free Monthly Habit Tracker Printable (1 Page)

One sheet covers one month: write the month on the line, write up to six habits on the rows, and fill one small circle per day each habit happens. At the end of the month the recap box catches what worked, what got missed, and what you would keep or drop next month. Two rows come pre-filled in gray with the generic examples "drink water" and "walk" as placeholders, and you write over them or print them blank. Print it below, or keep reading for how we fill ours, including four opinions about habit lists that run too long. The full Habit Tracker Pack this template belongs to is linked at the bottom.

The one-page monthly grid

Six rows, thirty-one circles each, one month per sheet. Write the month at the top so finished sheets stack into a record, and phrase each habit so a stranger could judge it: "walk 20 minutes" instead of "move more". The two gray rows are examples, not suggestions; overwrite them with your own habits or leave them if those are the ones you run. When the month ends, fill the recap box before printing the next sheet, because last month's answers are the input for next month's rows.

End-of-month recap

Best streak (habit + how many days)

Missed most (habit + roughly how often)

Keep next month

Drop next month

Notes

Fits A4 and US Letter at 100%. Shorter months: cross out the circles past day 28, 30 or 31. Keep the finished sheet; the recap answers are what make the next month easier to set up.

4 tips for a month that stays readable

Our opinions from running these sheets, no research behind them, take or leave:

  1. Two habits beat eight. The sheet has six rows, and filling all six is the fastest way to a messy grid. Two rows fully ticked tell you more than eight rows half ticked, so we would rather see a short list finished than a long list abandoned. Add a third row only after a full month at two.
  2. Read "missed most" before "best streak". The best-streak line feels good, but the missed-most line is the one that changes next month. Whatever you missed most either matters less than you thought (drop it) or is set at the wrong bar (shrink it). The recap box puts both on one page on purpose.
  3. One sheet per month, always fresh. Reusing a half-finished sheet across two months turns the circles into mush. Print a new one, write the new month, carry over only the keep/drop answers from the recap. Ten seconds of setup, and every sheet stays a clean record.
  4. Give weekend habits their own rule. If a habit runs Monday to Friday, write that on the line ("gym, Mon to Fri") and dash through the weekend circles in advance. Pre-marked rest circles never read as a miss when you scan the row later.

Common questions

How do I fill the circles?

Shade them solid, tick them, or write the count in them (minutes, glasses, pages). The one convention worth keeping: a filled circle means the habit happened by the rule written on its line, and an empty circle means it did not. Partial effort goes in the notes lines, not in the circle.

What about months with fewer than 31 days?

Cross out the unused circles at the end of the grid on day one, so an empty circle at day 30 in February never reads as a miss. The month line at the top is write-in, so the same sheet works for every month of the year.

Six rows are not enough for my list.

Print a second sheet rather than cramming two habits on one line; separate rows keep the circles honest. Or track longer runs differently: the habit streak tracker covers one habit across 30 days with streak counters, and the 66-day habit tracker runs three habits for about two months per page.

Does it print well in black and white?

Yes. The sheet is grayscale by design: gray examples, gray day numbers, thin rules. It reads the same on a cheap laser printer as on screen.

What the full Habit Tracker Pack adds

This page is the paper version. The full pack moves the same idea into a spreadsheet you fill for a longer run:

Setup takes about two minutes: import the CSVs into Google Sheets or open them in Excel. Sample marks ship in the first rows so you can see the streaks move, then clear them and start day 1. License: personal and commercial use.
