Puppy Training Log — Free Printable 2-Page Session Sheet

Free

The first weeks with a puppy run on small records: which skill you practiced, for how many minutes, how it went, when potty trips happened, where accidents happened. Memory is bad at all of that; paper is good at it. This printable puppy training log holds the records on two printed pages. Page 1 is a 12-row session sheet: date, skill, minutes, and a went circle. Page 2 is the week on one table, a 4-row accident log, and four opinion tips.

The sheet is an organizer, not a course. It records what happened so the pattern shows up on paper, like the hour accidents keep landing in. When you want the full 8-week structure behind these two pages, that is the paid product linked at the bottom.

Session log, 12 rows

Skill is whatever you practiced: sit, stay, come, leash, crate, or a write-in of your own. Minutes is the total for the day, estimate freely. The went circle is your call: great, ok, or hard. No row gets graded; the useful thing is twelve filled rows in a row. Ctrl+P (or Cmd+P) prints both pages.

Wake and potty get times. Meals, walks and notes get whatever your household does; a column you never use is fine to leave blank.

One line per accident: date, time, and a short note about where or what led up to it. Four rows is one reprint away.

4 opinion tips for a puppy training log

Opinions, labeled as such. They held up in our house; take or leave:

  1. Keep sessions short. (Opinion.) Two good minutes, three times a day, beats one long cranky one. Twelve rows fit a week of short sessions comfortably.
  2. End every session on something puppy can already do. (Opinion.) The last rep is the one you both carry into the next session. Starting from a win costs less than digging out of a flop.
  3. Write accidents down the same day, with the time. (Opinion.) Cleanup fades from memory by evening; the time column survives. Four dated rows turn scattered messes into a readable pattern.
  4. Print spare copies before you need them. (Opinion.) A log you cannot write on tonight is a log you stop keeping. Print the pair twice while the printer is already on.

What this page is

A record-keeping sheet. It organizes dates, times, minutes, and notes about your own puppy's days. It is not training advice and it predicts nothing: there is no claim here about what any puppy will learn, how fast, or which method works. It names no breeds, evaluates no temperament, and makes no veterinary or medical claims; anything about health or behavior that worries you belongs to your vet. The sheet keeps the entries in one place so the pattern is visible to you.

From the product's README (verbatim)

The paid product behind this sheet is the 32-page planner these two pages condense. From its README:

"A printable 8-week training and care tracker for a new puppy: the schedule, the potty log and every record a first-time puppy household needs, in one binder. Pick your paper size, print what you need, write on paper. No app, no login, no subscription."

"The grids are day-numbered, not date-bound, so the planner starts whenever your puppy does."

"Personal use. Print as many copies as you need for your own household. Please don't resell or republish the files."
